Charitable Foundation
"Tasos Georgiadis"

On March 24, 1996, at the General Assembly of the Pan-Euboean Association of America, Mr. Giannis Symeonidis once again proposed the establishment of a Charitable Foundation in Euboea, based in Chalkida, under the name “Tasos Georgiadis.”

The purpose of this foundation will be to provide financial and moral support to individuals who either originate from the Euboea Prefecture or are permanent residents of the area and face serious health problems that require hospitalization within Greece, or need to travel abroad and whose families are unable to meet the expenses financially.

The initial capital of the Foundation will consist of the remaining funds from the fundraising campaign.

Our goal is to raise, through contributions and donations both here and in Greece, the amount of 58,695 euros (20,000,000 drachmas), the interest from which will begin to provide assistance—less at first, more over time—to those in need. The principal amount will remain fixed and will have the capacity to grow continuously.

The Foundation will be governed by eleven (11) members. The President, the Vice President, and one member of our Association, appointed by the plenary assembly each time, will hold lifetime positions.

The remaining members will be appointed for a three-year term with the unanimous agreement of the three lifetime members.

Initially, the presidency of the Foundation was entrusted to Archimandrite Pavlos Ioannou, who traveled many times from Euboea to New York for this purpose and whom we had the pleasure and honor of meeting at one of our Association’s events. After the departure of Metropolitan Pavlos Ioannou, the presidency of the Foundation was assigned to His Eminence Chrysostomos, Metropolitan of Chalkida, Istiaia, and the Northern Sporades.

The vice presidency is entrusted to the mother of the late Mr. Aikaterini Georgiadou.

The third lifetime member will be from our Association and will be Mr. Giannis Symeonidis, who was unanimously elected by the plenary assembly.
